Hello,
This flyer was printed as part of a letter that appeared in
one of our campus papers at UW-Madison about a week ago. I'm now
curious just how many other schools around the country have seen this
thing. Is it being circulated on some rightwing campus listserv?
The fellow who signed his name to the letter in our paper said it was
just "sarcasm" when confronted over the phone - maybe it's time for
self-defense training for non-violent activists....

Here's the flyer:
How to Handle a "Peace" Rally...
1) Approach someone who is calling for "peace" and
saying there should be "no retaliation" for the
events of September 11.
2) Ask them if they think military force is
appropriate.
3) When he says, "No." ask him, "Why not?"
4) Most likely, he will spout something like:
"Because that would just cause more innocent deaths,
which would be awful, and we should not cause more
violence, blah, blah, blah."
5) Punch him in the face ... hard.
6) When he gets up to punch you, point out to him
that it would be a mistake (and contrary to his values)
to punch you since he would be causing more violence.
7) When he agrees with you that he has pledged not
to commit violence, punch him in the face again... only
harder this time.
8) Repeat steps 2 through 7 until he understands
that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.
