First Regional Anti-War Conference:
                       Building a Movement for Peace.

This conference will be on November 10th on The George Washington University
Campus and will coincide with other student conferences going on all over the
country to build a strong movement and a national network against the War in
Afghanistan. This conference will feature speakers and workshops to explore
the possibilities of how the US got into this war and our plans, as a movement
for the future.

Plenary Topics include:
-What is happening in Afghanistan? Beyond CNN
-What is happening at home
  -The attack on civil liberties
  -Racism against Arabs in this country
-The history of US Foreign Policy in the Middle East, featuring William Blum,
author of "The Rogue State" and "Killing Hope"
-What the Media isn't telling us and why
-The Root Problems of Terrorism
-Possible Alternatives (A world Criminal Court and others)
-The Poverty Draft and other aspects of the "two Americas"

Workshops include:
-Understanding Islam, breaking down misconceptions
-Civil Liberties, from McCarthyism to neo-McCarthyism
-The School of the Americas-Terrorism in our own backyard
-Movement Building-The national network and building a sustainable anti-war
movement.
-Global Justice and the Peace Movement-How is the World Bank financing this
war?
