we would love to have some support! Call VP of General Services at
Stanford Hospital, Lou Saksen. Also Stanford University President John
Hennessy--hennessy@stanford.edu, and provost John
Etchemmendy--etch@CSLI.stsanford.edu
Although the administration said Hennessy was "out of the country",
students were able to pressure Provost John Etchemendy to agree to a
meeting between concerned community members, Saksen, Provost Etchemendy
and Hennessy(up until now the president refused to meet with them). At
this meeting, they expect to negotiate ending the contracting out of the 10 housekeping
positions and creating a group of students, workers, and decision makers
who would set Stanford University and Stanford Hospital's labor policy,
especially with regard to the use of subcontractors.

Tell the three of them that we expect to come out of the Wednesday
meeting with a promise from the University not subcontract out the
ten positions and to endorse a code of conduct that ensures livable wages and jobs with
dignity!!
