USAS Conference Call 2-10-02
Present on call:

Letters from Jackie:
Jackie has two letters that she had sent out a while back. They have been resent to the CC list, and there is a deadline now for comments. TODAY (as in MONDAY at midnight). Otherwise they will be sent out as is.
FLOC
Jackie went and visited FLOC. FLOC seems to want USAS to do more with the Mt. Olive pickle campaign. They have arranged to have their staff people talk with campuses and see which campuses have Mt. Olive pickles in possibly campus convenience stores, since the majority do not have pickles in their cafeterias
Redirecting the movement.
Chad Sullivan's email, we will table this until the next call, and make a commitment to discuss it over email.
CARI 2002/2003
We have decided that we will not do CARI this year, but make a full commitment into CARI for next year. And start sketching out what our timetable will be for choosing students, and tranings this fall for the next summer. The CC will have a dedication into moving along this timeline. Let's discuss over the lists!
Official vote: Unanimous NO for this Summer 2002 Unanimous YES for Summer 2003 We will begin to work on a timeline as well.
Web Proposal:
The ICC temporarily take on the Web Committee's responsibility. We have a renewed committment and have a prosepective person to take on for the overhaul and make it easily accessiblible for people to upload.
New Era Update
National Day of Action tomorrow. Mobilization for that across campuses nationwide. About 30 schools have committed. Press has been taken care of regarding the national day of action. The AFL-CIO is now getting involved and devoting more resources to the situation in Derby. Targeting Foot Locker and Champs as well now with USAS students taking actions into Foot Locker and Champs as well for our National Day of Action.
BJ&B
A representative from the WRC to the Dominican Republic with regards to the BJ&B campaign. Worker solidarity letters have been sent.
Staff Oversight discussion:
Staff will keep us updated with what they do with regards to their staff positions. General project outlines of staff will go to the whole list, and the specifics of stuff will be sent to the newly named Staff Communication Committee (SCC). Specific request of staff can be discussed over list, actual directives of tangible things to the SCC.
