Dear Activists-
sorry for the cross-posts.
Last week, I recieved the following email from someone objecting to a
call for action against David Horowitz speaking on campus. While
legally, the email is not being percieved as a threat, I still feel that
the author stepped over many lines.
Following is the email:
"excuse me I read his articles he is not promoting
hate hey melissa come here I will rape you and
than you give the same excuses you give for terrorists
peace not revenge and you will tell them to let
me go ok you know the old saying you idiots say
eye for an eye makes the world blind. I guess you
would free all the prisoners " ( anonynous)
This lead to consider the following questions:
Have other female activists recieved simmilar emails?
Have male activists recieved threatening emails?
How do we, as an activist community, respond to the notion that our
bodies are going to be threatened? Should we respond?
Please email me if you would like to engage in a conversation about this.
Melissa
