Students, workers, community members, and faith-based activists are gearing up all over the country for the 3rd annual April 4th National Student Labor Day of Action. Check out the growing GRID OF ACTIONS at http://www.jwj.org/SLAP/A4/2002grid.htm.

Still looking for ideas for what you can do on April 4th? Check out these amazing events being planned around the country:
At Stanford University, the Student Labor Action Coalition and the Student of Color coalition are working with SEIU local 715 to plan a massive 800-person rally during Stanford's "Community Day," where surrounding communities visit the campus to learn more about the "great things" the university has to offer. The rally will protest Stanford President John Hennessey's refusal to meet with students and workers to discuss the implementation of a Code of Conduct.
The Student Labor Aciton Coalition (a USAS affiliate) will have a Day of Action against the New Era Cap Company on April 4th, asking students to call-email CMU's licensing agent to pressure CMU to suspend its contract with New Era, having a mid-day rally, and a New Era teach-in during the evening. (for more information on the New Era campaign, see www.usasnet.org)
At the University of Pittsburgh, Students in Solidarity (SIS the campus SLAC) will join Pitt's Black Action Society in hosting a screening of "At the River I Stand," the documentary on Martin Luther King Jr's involvement in the 1968 Memphis Sanitation workers' strike. On April 4th, SIS and the Pittsburgh Alliance for Progressive Action (APA, a Jobs with Justice affiliate) will hold a rally for a living wage for campus workers.
There will be at least 5 events on Philly-area campuses, including a forum on funding for public education at the Community College of Philadelphia, rallies at Temple U. and U. Pennsylvania to support graduate students fighting for a fair contract and for the right to organize, a rally for a living wage for campus workers at Swarthmore college, and a sweatshop fashion show at Villanova U.
Students from the Workers' Rights Orgnanizing Committee at Princeton University will be hosting a showing of "Occupation," the documentary about the Harvard Living Wage Sit-In, and a workshop on living wages featuring students and workers from the Harvard Living Wage Campaign.
