Our Campaign:
The Student Coalition Against Labor Exploitation has campaigned for two years to get our school, the University of Southern California, to join the Workers Rights Consortium, and has hit a brick wall of administrative refusals. SCALE has jumped through every hoop the administration has asked: we have petitions, a student senate resolution, and numerous campus organizations all demanding that USC join the WRC now. Despite this widespread support and the hordes of teach-ins, workshops, speakers, marches, and even panels with administrators, the school's answer is still a resounding NO.

here's a sample letter:
Dear President Sample,
I was very disappointed to hear that you are restraining USC from joining the Workers Rights Consortium. This organization is taking concrete strides towards equitable working conditions worldwide as demonstrated by the success at re-instating illegally fired workers and creating an independent union at the Kukdong factory in Mexico. You can never have too many human rights tools in the toolbox, so why not join this second factory monitoring group?
Liz Kennedy, your Director of Trademarks and Licensing, has repeatedly criticized the WRC as "non-inclusive," because it doesn't give corporations a vote on its board. However, USC's experience with the FLA, which is beholden to the corporations (such as Nike) that dominate its governance, show the WRC's lack of corporate control to be one of its huge advantages.
You are being given the opportunity to fight labor exploitation and improve the quality of life for thousands of workers who make USC apparel. Show respect for campus democracy by following the recommendation of our Student Senate and numerous student + faculty organizations by acting on this opportunity now
Sincerely,
Joey Ramone
