It has been 26 days now that students at Florida State
have been occupying an area in the heart of thwe
university with what is now over 50 tents. More and
more weve been preparing for the long run, rationing
donated food, gathering as many supplies as we can,
and organizing as many teach ins as possible within
the alloted times. It has been 26 days, and still none
of us has faltered, we have only grown. Last friday
there was a march and rally held in front of the
administration building with almost 200 students. It
was an amazing success. Yet still our President stands
idly by has 6 students who were arrested for
tresspassing in their own university prepare for
court. He has ignored us, as well as the faculty
senate, the student senate, countless administrators,
and the director of the Center for the Advancement of
Human Rights, as we lobbied him to get Florida State
to become a member of the WRC. He has defined the WRC
as being an advocacy group, and has stated the he does
not feel university money should go towards any
advocacy group, even if he does support them. THe
point was brought up that if the WRC was an advocacy
group, isnt the FLA as well? He replied "No the FLA,
is a monitoring group".All, please email him and
expalin to him the definition of an advocacy group and
why ultimately this excuse of his fails under
scrutiny. The WRC is a monitoring group not an
advocacy group. Once again please send him an
