Join working people across the country as we expose the sweatshop conditions
that exist in our own workplaces and communities. What sweatshop conditions
do you face? How are we as working people challenging these violations to
our human rights?
Organize a local event in your area or invite us to an already-planned event
and the United Sweatshops of America Tour will come to your town. Beginning
on May 16, 2002, injured workers, women workers, garment workers and other
representatives of NMASS will kick off the USA Tour in Los Angeles and will
travel across the country to share our stories and struggles against the
sweatshop conditions we are facing- especially the long hours that are
robbing us of our time, our health and our lives. Through these local events
NMASS will record video and oral testimonies and will gather stories of long
hours, unfair layoffs and other sweatshop conditions. On June 22 the tour
will touch base in New York City at an International Public Hearing on
Workers' Health & Safety and we will share this evidence of spreading
sweatshop conditions with the international human rights community.
Afterwards the tour will visit more cities as we continue to build a movement
for control over our time and lives.
We want to hear your stories and struggles and we want to share ours.
