Hello SNCC !
I hope each of you is doing well, my name is Laura Close, I work with a national student network named STARC: Students Transforming and Resisting Corporations (www.starcalliance.org). We essentially work from the idea that in order to resist corporate power we need to support the growth of strong communities.
This August 9-12 we will be having our national conference at Middle Tennessee State University and would really love it if any of you could join us. The theme is " In Solidarity: Youth Working for Community Justice " We are expecting students from around the country and of course, from many schools in the south, to gather with us as we explore the history of the US student movement and strategize around our current role as youth organizers. Below is the conference agenda, if you'd like to learn more about STARC or talk to a real live person, call me or email me your phone number and we can talk! My phone number in Oregon is 503.247.5995.
Please consider spending one or all four days with us, your presence would be greatly valued. At our last national conference we were joined by folks who'd been active in the student movement in the 50's and 60's and the response from our members was tremendous! Creating a sense of continuity between generations has an unspeakably powerful result.
In struggle,
Laura Close
