Hey USASers!

The Ben & Jerry's Foundation is currently taking a really cool road show
across the country. The road show is called "True Majority." Info is
below, and also on their website: www.truemajority.org. It will be stopping
at various concerts and festivals across the USA and the organizers are in
need of some people to staff the True Majority table at the events in each
town. This is really easy and fun, the message is positive and important,
and you'll get to be at the concert/festival at the same time!

The True Majority organizers asked me to recommend a few very special people
for this opportunity and I'd like to recommend you since you have been
working really hard on our Fair Trade campaigns and your other activist work
and you deserve to have some fun!

Please look at the attached schedule below and let me know as soon as
possible if you might be available to help out. Please also let me know if
you have other local contacts you'd recommend. I really hope you can do
this because, as I mentioned above, this will be a really enjoyable way to
make a real difference in our communities and around the country.

take care and thanks for all your great work!

Melissa

ABOUT THE TRUE MAJORITY FOUNDATION:

TrueMajority was founded by Ben Cohen, Co-founder, Ben and Jerryıs. It is a
grassroots education and advocacy project of Priorities, Inc., a non-profit,
non-partisan, tax-deductible, 501(c)(3) corporation. People who visit the
web site can go to our "Take Action" section and send faxes on on the issues
we all care about to members of Congress and national leaders.

TrueMajorityıs underlying philosophy is contained in the TrueMajority
Principles, a positive blueprint for moving forward in the post 9/11 world.
These principles reflect the American values of compassion, charity and
justice the same values we must adhere to in order to build a safer, more
secure home and world. These principles are also revenue-neutral, meaning
the investments proposed are entirely funded by reductions in unnecessary
spending on Cold War-era weapons that no longer contribute to our national
security.

TrueMajority Principles:
1. Attack poverty and world hunger as if our life depends on it. It does.
2. Champion the rights of every child, woman & man.
3. End our obstructionism to the world's treaties.
4. Reduce our dependence on oil and lead the world to an age of renewable
energy.
5. Close the book on the Cold War and end the nuclear nightmare forever.
6. Renounce Star Wars and the militarization of space.
7. Make globalization work for, not against, working people.
8. Ensure equal treatment under law for all.
9. Get money out of politics.
10. Close the gap between rich and poor kids at home.

The Ten Principles of the TrueMajority are endorsed by:
Greenpeace
Rock the Vote
Physicians for Social Responsibility
Peace Action
National Head Start Association

HE TRUE MAJORITY FESTIVAL (What you'll get to help with!)

Hundreds of thousands of Americans will get a unique, hands-on experience of
our agenda through the TrueMajority Festival Tour, a gala traveling event
that merges music, activism, and fun. We are joining several music tours,
including the three-day, 80,000 person strong Bonnaroo festival, and the
15-city String Cheese Incident Tour. At each stop we will set up 10
traveling carnival game booths like a midway at a county fair, boasting
lights, color and amusement with a message. For example, in the
Knock-a-Nuke/Build-a-School game, players throw softballs at nuclear
weapons; for every one they hit, a gleaming new school pops up. A banner
reminds folks that the U.S. spends $30 billion annually on nuclear weapons,
a wasteful amount, especially when compared to unmet educational needs.
TrueMajorityıs giant inflatable sculptures, such as the 20-foot bar graph
showing global military spending, will be scattered around the Festival
grounds, bringing more color and movement and most importantly, message.
TrueMajority is also in joint venture with Jim Hightowerıs Rolling Thunder
Downhome Democracy Tour. Our Festival and Parade will join Rolling Thunder
in their venues across America, where they attract 5,000 to 15,000 people at
a time. In partnership with Rock the Vote, weıll be registering new voters
as well. Great music, good fun, meaningful activismŠproof that social change
doesnıt have to be dull and boring.
