The Field Organizer will work with USAS students to (1) network and coordinate
both national
USAS campaigns and those of local USAS groups and (2) focus on building strong
local organizations in
our network as well as skilled and committed youth organizers and political
leadership within the
organization.

-Working with local USAS affiliate campuses, through regular check-in phone
calls and campus visits to
develop winning campaigns and encourage solid campus organizing models that
value:

·focusing on the development of new student leaders, especially women,
students of color, working class
and LGBTQ students

·prioritizing coalition-building with and showing solidarity for social and
economic justice organizations at
a local level.

-Creating a field work organizational plan each semester which targets
schools-whether for staff attention,
for resources, and for leadership development, in order to prioritize and
organize field work from the
semester outset

-Developing and distributing campaign manuals, skills training materials,
brochures, educational literature,
and other resources for students.

-Networking between member campuses and between USAS groups and other allied
organizations within
and outside of the anti-sweatshop and student movements.

-Developing, promoting, and leading organizing and leadership trainings on

small network of regional
organizers who are focused on field organizing within their geographic regions
to supplement the work of
national staff.

conferences, and retreats, as well as
facilitating discussion about long-term goals and strategies for the
organization.
