Welcome to the first edition of WOMEN'S WORK - Organizing for Change across Borders!

With the attached newsletter, STITCH hopes to share stories about the women who are making a change in their world everyday - in both the US and in Central America. We seek to connect organizers and activists across borders and to use this newsletter as a way to share strategies for organizing women and workers in the global economy. In most editions, we'll include information about current organizing campaigns, STITCH programs, profiles on women organizers and action suggestions.

We would like this to become a forum to discuss ideas about organizing and women's leadership across borders - one that inspires and supports women organizers in their day-to-day work, as well as informs about ongoing campaigns in Central America and the US so that we can support each other's struggles and share strategies.

While STITCH has been collaborating with Central American women for some time and sends out specific campaign alerts when needed, this is the first time we have begun a regular newsletter. We expect that WOMEN'S WORK will come out about every 4-6 months and will grow and improve with time. We will soon be putting it out in Spanish as well.

Let us hear from you! Send us information on organizing campaigns where you are, stories about women who are doing great organizing work, photos, testimonies, or questions.

We apologize in advance for any cross- or multiple postings. To reach us (or to request that you be removed from this list), please write us at stitchdc@earthlink.net.

In Solidarity,
Liz O'Connor
