Public Hearings on the FTAA
Throughout the month of October, Global Exchange, the Mexico Solidarity
Network, the Alliance for Responsible Trade and a host of local groups
throughout California will be holding public hearings on the FTAA. Since
the government refuses to hold public hearings for community members to
voice their concerns, we¹re taking the initiative!
The hearings will include testimony from Herlinda Lucila Hernandez
Matos, a displaced Colombian Union organizer; Fela Contreras, a former
Mexican maquila worker; and Lisa Hoyos, an anti-FTAA campaigner with
labor unions in California. Each event will also have members of the
community speak about the problems "free trade" has caused in their local
communities and an action component outlining ways you can help stop the
FTAA.
