[slwc] Need Help with a Code of Conduct!

Hello folks,

The Progressive Student Alliance at the University of Tennessee is working on a code of conduct for our university to sign onto regarding the hourly employees on campus. We're working with the union on campus (who are running the living wage campaign here) in order to narrow down the points of interest they feel need to be on there (such as living wages, affordable benefits, etc), while at the same time looking to other models for codes of conduct from other universities.

However, we would really like some input regarding what people actually did with their code of conducts in order to organize... We've been tossing around some ideas but we can't quite settle on one that we like.

Questions we've been considering are: Do we get our Prez to sign onto it? If so, how can it concretely help the union and the workers on campus? How can it help us organize/mobilize students on campus? What are the pros/cons of a campaign like this?

What sorts of strategies (and tactics) did folks employ on their campuses when intorducing their code of conduct? And, even if you haven't run a campaign like this, do you have any suggestions to help us succeed with this?

In the past when we put out a call for help (regarding Aramark) we had tremendous support from folks - it was great. We were hoping that some of y'all would be able to help us on this issue as well.

Thanks in advance, and we've really appreciated the support we've had in the past from all over. If folks can call me I'm a able to call you right back, or y'all can just email me your number...
