Justice For Janitors -- Student Solidarity!

-------------------------------------------

As you may know, Boston janitors are set to strike this Monday,
September 30. UNICCO and other contracting companies have not bargained
fairly with the janitors and continue to deny them decent wages,
healthcare, and opportunities for full-time jobs. More than 10,000
janitors in over 1,000 buildings are covered by this contract, and we
won't let UNICCO get away with its bully tactics. Boston Student Labor
Action Project, United Students Against Sweatshops and others have planned
a series of actions this week leading up to the strike. Now more than
ever it's important to show your support. The heat is on. Near or
far, here's what you can do:

*******STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY********
(1) Spread the word about the National Student call-in day to UNICCO
on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30 ALL DAY LONG. Demand that UNICCO offer its workers
fair wages, healthcare, and full-time job opportunities.
CALL: 800-283-9222 FAX: 617-969-2210 EMAIL: marketing@unicco.com

(2) Target UNICCO at one of its regional offices. Students around the
country are letting UNICCO know that until they treat janitors in Boston
fairly, they won't get any peace elsewhere. If you live in one of the
following cities and can take an hour out of your day to leaflet a UNICCO
headquarters, email lenore@usasnet.org
***Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Hartford, Honolulu, Pittsburg,
Oklahoma City, Orlando, Providence, Toronto, DC, Princeton, NYC
***If your school contracts with UNICCO, ask them to write a letter
to UNICCO demanding that they bargain fairly in Boston.

(3) Sign the J4J Solidarity Pledge: www.massjwj.net/calendar.html#pledge
