Greetings.
In [usas] Digest Number 714, Meghan Lee Krausch
asked "does anyone have any advice, suggested reading,
criticisms, thoughts, on creating a more than vague
notion of "fostering democracy in the workplace" ...

These ideas are relatively rare in the USA, but not
elsewhere, particularly within the trade union
movements of European countries, such as Sweden and
Germany. The Hans Bockler Stiftung [foundation],
associated with the DGB - German Federation of Labor -
has excellent material on the issues that Meghan asked
about. They [HBS as well as the DGB] have websites in
English, I think, but I don't have the address handy
at the moment. The HBS has a good magazine called
Mittelungen or some such, which is the German term
for "co-determination." I've received English
versions of the publication, and it's quite engaging.

Perhaps Meghan and others "here" can reach out to our
brothers and sisters in Germany, Sweden [i.,e., the
Swedish Labor Federation or whatever it is called] and
see what they all have.

Many countries in Europe have Workers Education
Associations - part of a worldwide International
Federation of Workers Education Associations - and
again, many of these WEAs as welll as the IFWEA itself
have material on issues Meghan and others are
interested in exploring. Reach out ... !
