Okay everyone PLEASE read this carefully. We've tried in this to create useful and pragmatic steps for a full-fledged and effective membership affiliation process for STARC.
For those of you on starcgrassroots, be thankful you haven't been subjected to the three previous versions of this beast. This newest attempt at establishing a much needed STARC membership policy was originally concieved of at the starc summer conference (August in Tenessee) summarized for the visioning retreat (September in Las Vegas), and then reworked to incorporate visioning retreat input gathered.
I was then commissioned to put in the steps to accomplishing our membership goals. For instance, we knew we wanted to get dues from folks, but the question of how often, what time of year, who gets contacted, and how they get contacted was up in the air. As was the question of what exactly happens to a person or group once they submit a form.
This is the third draft of this proposal, please know that we've had multiple failed attempts at membership policies in past years of starc due to folks crafting proposals that were simply unrealistic, so your input is really crucial.
