JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Operations Manager
(Full-time Position in Los Angeles or Oakland)
Sweatshop Watch is a coalition of labor and community organizations
committed to eliminating the exploitation that occurs in sweatshops.
Sweatshop Watch serves low-wage workers, with a focus on garment workers in
California, as well as nationally and globally. We believe that workers
should be earning a living wage in a safe and decent working environment,
and that those who benefit most from the exploitation of sweatshop workers
must be held accountable.
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for office management, financial
management, and administration. The office manager will work closely with
the Co-Director and the Director of the Garment Worker Center, and will be
supervised by the Co-Director.
Responsibilities:
Office management
… Maintain inventory of supplies and educational materials
… Maintain filing systems
… Maintain archives of press clippings and other materials
… Coordinate maintenance of office equipment
… Coordinate correspondence, respond to information requests
… Coordinate mailings, including regular newsletter and membership mailings
… Oversee printing of materials
… Maintain databases
… Maintain organizational calendar
… Provide technical/computer support maintain computer network, hardware
and software; trouble shoot; back up files
… Assist in supervising volunteers
… Provide program support
Financial management
… Coordinate accounts payable and receivable
… Coordinate month-end closing
… Assist Co-Director in preparation of budgets and financial reports
… Coordinate preparation for annual audit
… Maintain relations with vendors
Administration
… Process payroll
… Administer benefits
… Oversee liability insurance
… Maintain corporate records
… Provide administrative support
Qualifications:
Required:
… At least two years related experience, preferably in nonprofit office
environment
… Prior bookkeeping experience
… Excellent computer skills
… Strong problem solving and communication skills
… Commitment to social justice issues
… Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks
… Highly organized, pays attention to detail
Preferred:
… Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and/or a Southeast Asian
language
Compensation:
$28-32,000 plus medical & dental benefits, paid vacation and sick time, paid
holidays, pension plan.
