Below is a link to Students In Solidarity’s latest newsletter Living Wage Newsletter.

This is the second year of the campaign which is focused on Same-Sex domestic partner benefits*, (which is primarily equal health care benefits for Gay and Lesbian employees), and supporting SEIU (janitors) local 585 in their fight for a better contract in December, of which health care is a major issue.
We have made progress in getting the union to support Same-Sex benefits, and because of us they may be trying to fight for it in their contract. This would mean that not only would they be fighting for themselves, but every Gay and Lesbian employee at the University.
There are two workers in this addition; I hope this helps others in their efforts.
Here is our living wage website

*These are two links about the Same Sex Benefits; the first is about a hunger strike that took place in 1999, the other about a commencement protest. The university has been in a lawsuit with the ALCU for seven years over the issue of Same-Sex benifts.
