Hi there everyone,

About 15 new people have signed up on this list serve in the last two weeks so I wanted to take this time to introduce them, and everyone, to the members of the National Support Committee and a couple of other important people. The NSC is made up of the coordinators of our working groups (finances, community, web, and media and propoganda) and our campaigns (Stop the FTAA, Peaceful Justice, and Community Investment) and are elected at our sumer conference. Two other important people to know are our liason to the National Youth and Student Peace Coalition and the coordinator for our FTAA action camps. These two people are not on the NSC but do a lot of work. So here they are:

The NSC-

Amelia Cates:Co-coordinator for Stop the FTAA. Amelia is a student at Hendrix college in Arkansas studying sociology and religion. She is originally from Dallas Texas. Not only is Amelia one of our Stop the FTAA coordinators, she is active in Hendrix's STARC group and is the chair of one of the environmental organizations on campus. She is also great at mobilizing people to go to large demonstrations like the School of the Americas demonstration in a couple of weeks. You can contact Amelia at cateska@mercury.hendrix.edu.

Anna Weir: Co-coordinator for the Community Working Group. The Community Working Group organizes STARC's Summer Institute and Anna is especially qualified to organize the SI having recently gone through our first Summer Institute last summer where she interned at PUEBLA (Peaople United for a Better Oakland). Anna is a student at Middle Tennessee State University and was one of the wonderful hosts and organizers of our summer conference at MTSU. She can be contacted at annersg01@yahoo.com

Carrie Goodman: Co-coordinator for Stop the FTAA. Carrie is a women's studies student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was first introduced to STARC at our summer conference and the next day was facilitating large group meetings and accepting the nomination to coordinate the Stop the FTAA campaign. Carrie can be reached at cegoodma@unc.edu.

David Dang: Co-coordinator of the Community Working Group. David lives in Portland, Oregon where he has recently graduated from the University of Portland. When he is not working in a coaster factory, he is organizing the summer institute with Anna, doing art, or playing with his cats. David is also a founding member of a men's group here in Portland. He can be contacted at simplydavid@gofairtrade.net

Elizabeth Weisholtz: Coordinator of the Community Investment Campaign. This is Elizabeth's second year as the coordinator of the community investment campaign. She is currently a student at Wesleyan University. Her work on the community investment campaign led to a summer internship with Equity Trust where she helped to write a guide for students on community investment for campuses. She is also one of the organizers for STARC's community investment conference, happening next weekend. You can contact Elizabeth at eweisholtz@wesleyan.edu.

Emma Dumont: Coordinator for the Finances Working Group. Emma is a French student at the University of Southern California. This is her second year as the coordinator for the finance committee. Emma has helped to move us from a network of students to an organization that has money to do events and other fun stuff. She makes sure that we have enough money to pay me, do the action camps, put on the summer institute, and visit all of you to give workshops. And she can't do it alone. If you want to get involved with the finances committee, contact Emma at iracethewind@yahoo.com.

Kai Newkirk: Coordinator for Peaceful Justice. Kai is a student at Hampshire College where he has recently helped start a STARC group on campus. Kai is currently leading us through uncharted territories with our new Peaceful Justice campaign that involves doing ally work for an awesome orgaization of youth of color called ROOTS (Revolution Out of Truth and Struggle). He also likes to watch the sun rise. You can contact Kai at nnewkirk@hampshire.edu

Luci DuRocher: Coordinator for Web team. Luci is currently a senior at Portland State University and active in Students for Unity, a STARC affiliate. Luci is in the process of updateing our very out of date web page so that you can have current info about what STARC is up to. When she is not doing all that she is working with the local Jobs with Justice and a local anti-facist group. Luci needs your help on the website. We are looking for someone to redesign the website. So if have to design a website for a class or just want to do it out of the goodness of your heart, please contact Luci at crankpot@angelfire.com.

Melissa Owl: Co-coordinator of Media and Propoganda Working Group. Melissa is a student at Middle Tennessee State University. She was introduced to STARC while helping to organize our summer conference. Melissa is a mother and a member of SEA, the environmental group at MTSU. You can reach her at melissaowl@hotmail.com

Ramses Teon: Co-coordinator of Media and Propoganda Working Group. Ramses grew up in Las Vegas and is now a student at San Francisco State University where he is trying to get a STARC group started. Ramses not only went through STARC's first Summer Institute, but helped to organize it as well. If you want to help him make STARC propoganda, or if you have a media worthy event, you can let him know at rebboysf@yahoo.com.

Terra Lawson-Remer: Coordinating mentor of Media and Propoganda Working Group. As a student at Yale, Terra was one of the founders of STARC. She is now a student at NYU Law school. Presently she is not only helping to coordinate the M& P group, but she is a memeber of the Finance Committee. She can be reched at thelionessrampant@hotmail.com.

Non-NSC important people.

Alysabeth Alexandar: Liason to the National Youth and Student Peace Coalition. Alysabeth is a student at Marquette University in Milwaukee (WI). She was introduced to STARC at our summer conference and is now representing us on a national coalition. If you have any questions about what the NYSPC is up to, contact alysabeth at elizabeth.alexandar@marquette.edu.

Audrey Ward: Coordinator of FTAA action camps. Though Audrey is not a member of the NSC, she is working hard organizing our micro action camps like the one we had recently in Oklahoma. Audrey is a student at Portland State University and is also the volunteer coordinator for Students for Unity, a STARC affiliated group there. If you want to have an action camp on your campus, you can contact audrey at audrey@riseup.net.
