The intern position is a full-time, year-long opportunity to explore and be part of the dynamic new labor movement while developing specific media outreach skills. Duties include: 9 Writing press releases and media advisories; 9 Developing new media contacts; 9 Monitoring press coverage of unions; 9 Helping to stage press conferences and events; 9 Helping workers to refine their message and to make their voices heard in the media; 9 Coordinating on various AFL-CIO projects including politics, trade, organizing and legislation. The media outreach intern should be an effective writer and communicator with a deep interest in addressing issues affecting working people. Previous experience with unions, student labor coalitions, community organizations allied with labor or other labor-related organizations is a plus, but not a requirement.
